Welcome to my blog everyone

This is the first in the series of blogs I plan to publish in the future on regular basis. I do hope you will find this forum to be helpful, interesting & perhaps even motivating.

I would like to start with a very common -yet very important question: “Who would I wish to hire as my piano tuner technician”?
That question is a very familiar one, especially to those of you who arrive to this area from out of state or even other areas of Ca. You may have arrived here not knowing anyone, no friends or family on whom you could rely for referrals etc. The best source will always be the PTG – Piano Technicians Guild.

I myself am a registered piano technician member, and have been one for many years. When you hire a Registered tuner / technician – it means both you and your piano will highly benefit by receiving the best service and professionalism offered in this field.

I remember some time ago, I had a client whose piano I tuned a few consecutive times. One day, when it was time again for her piano to be tuned, I called her & reminded her of that. She then replied” Oh, we just had the piano tuned by someone else, thank you.” Surprised a bit I said:”May I ask why you chose not to call us as you have in the past?” She then answered -“Well, our new piano teacher does both – teaching piano AND tuning, AND he gives us a real good break on the price!”
I then chuckled internally and politely said “very well” and hung up the phone. There are two main issues here which need to be addressed:

1. Ask yourself this: Would you hire your driving instructor to not only teach you how to drive your car but also repair your transmission?!

2. Why would you want to jepordise your kid’s ability to be exposed to an expertly finely tuned instrument – all for the sake of spending a few bucks less?!

Let us face it folks – taking short cuts of any kind ultimately results in failiure to achieve the goal we seek to attain at the end of the day.

To be continued…
